We are brought to life through relationship. Much of the pain and wounding we carry comes from relationship–or the absence of it. The heart of psychotherapy is a relationship created to heal those wounds.

The therapy relationship provides perspective, accountability, and new ways of thinking, seeing, and being. But most of all, it provides loving, compassionate, caring attention to whatever matters most to you.

My favorite thing about therapy is the way it supports self-creation. Through mindfulness, body awareness, emotional awareness and regulation; through imagination and unconditional positive regard, I help people develop a healthier, more robust sense of self. This becomes the anchor that allows them to know who they are, what they want, and how to move through life with confidence.

What to Expect

My style is active and relational, and I believe that healing occurs when we move from the past into the present moment, and from insight into direct experience.

Practically speaking, that means I will listen deeply and invite you to notice what’s going on underneath the words: What your heart, mind, body, and spirit are communicating as you speak. We will follow the breadcrumb trail of your moment-to-moment experience in search of what feels true, and what wants to be released or healed. We will set up little verbal or physical experiments and study what happens. We will engage your senses and your imagination with visualization and other active techniques.

I am also certified in EMDR therapy, a powerful treatment for trauma, phobias, and other issues. To learn more about that, please visit my EMDR page, or contact me for a free consultation.
